Context-aware Collaborative Creation of Semantic Points of Interest as Linked Data

The csxPOI system enables its users to collaboratively create, share, and modify points of interest, which describe geographic places with explicit semantic properties instead of using vague annotations such as tags. Users can edit their own points of interest and those shared by others, but also adapt the structure of the ontology underlying the semantic annotations. The interface for all user interaction with the system is a context-aware client application, which is connected to a remote server and a database. Data mining techniques are employed to automatically counteract quality deficiencies of the volunteer collaborative process. The semantic points of interest and the collaborative ontology are published according to Linked Data principles as a geographic contribution to the Semantic Web.
